Baptism
[Jesus speaking] “I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”
– Luke 15:10
Do You Desire to Follow Christ’s Command to Believers to Be Baptized?
It’s very common in our culture to throw a party for major life events – birthdays, graduations, weddings, holidays. While these are important events in people’s lives, we believe there’s one that should be celebrated above all others: the day someone comes to know Jesus as their personal savior. As people enter into a “new life” in Christ, we, as a church family, want to come around them and celebrate with them.
What is Baptism?
Baptism is more than getting wet in front of a large group of people – it’s about following Jesus’ instructions and publicly proclaiming your trust and faith in Christ, once you’ve come to personally know Christ as your Savior. Baptism is a symbolic demonstration that a person’s sins have been washed away by Jesus’ atoning sacrifice for us on the cross, and now they can stand before God with their sins forgiven.
Our campuses hold baptism celebrations throughout the year so that our attenders may come before their church family and testify to their new life in Christ. Many would call this a “believer’s baptism”. If you’re interested in being baptized at one of our campuses, we do require that participants attend a pre-baptism class that is designed to help answer questions and prepare you for baptism.
A Few Specifics You Should Know
- All baptism candidates are required to attend the pre-baptism classes at Christ Community Chapel.
- Baptism is offered to those twelve years of age and older.
- Attendance at the pre-baptism class does not require you to actually be baptized if you are not ready to do so. If you would simply like more information about our beliefs concerning this ordinance or a chance to ask more questions, please feel free to sign-up and attend.
